Arson suspected in Waite Park fire, tenants jumped from building
WAITE PARK, Minn. (KMSP) - Authorities in Waite Park are looking for a suspect after someone set a fire at that sent people jumping from second and third story apartments.
It happened at the Sundial Apartments. Multiple tenants called 911 Monday morning to report the fire and many were forced to jump and throw their children out windows to safety. Several people were taken to the hospitals, their injuries are unknown. Authorities believe the fire started somewhere in the second-floor hallway.
The Red Cross assisted 41 displaced residents.
Anyone with information should call the Minnesota Arson Hotline at 1-800-723-2020 or submit a tip online at www.mniaai.org. A reward of $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
