9-year-old boy dies after pool party incident

A nine-year-old boy involved in a near drowning incident has now passed away, according to Hennepin County Sheriff's officials.

The boy passed away Tuesday afternoon.

On Sunday, the nine-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after nearly drowning at a pool party in Shorewood, Minn. 

According to a CaringBridge page, the young boy is nine-year-old Daniel Peso. Updates on the site said he had shown little brain activity since the incident. 

The latest entry posted on Tuesday said, "We, with heavy hearts, inform you all that Daniel has passed on. He was such a caring kid with an amazing mind. So full of life, with a smile that could brighten your day. We already miss him immensely!"

At about 3:16 p.m. on Sunday, Hennepin County Sheriff’s deputies and Shorewood Police officers received a call that a nine-year-old boy had been found unresponsive in a pool at a home on Peach Circle. An adult made the call to authorities.

Officials say the boy was at a private residence for a pool party. About a dozen people were there and parents were present at the time of the incident.

He was transported to Children’s Hospital by Air Care.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
