2 dead after fire rips through home near Pine City

CHENGWATANA TOWNSHIP, Minn. (FOX 9) - Two people were found dead after a fire at a home in northern Minnesota late Sunday night.

Deadly fire in Pine County

What we know:

First responders were called out shortly before 11 p.m. for a fire at a home on Blackberry Lane in Chengwatana Township, near Pine City. Blackberry Lane is a rural road off Cedar Creek Road north of Beroun Crossing Road, northeast of Pine City.

At the home, deputies found the house engulfed in flames. Fire crews later discovered two victims inside the home.

What we don't know:

The cause of the fire and how the victims were killed are not yet known. The investigation into the fire is ongoing.

The identities of the victims have also not yet been released.
