15-year-old charged for allegedly shooting dad in face in Minnetonka

Hennepin County prosecutors announced that they've charged a 15-year-old for allegedly shooting his dad in the face.

"The Hennepin County Attorney's Office has issued charges against a 15-year-old boy in connection with the Monday evening shooting in Minnetonka," a release says. "Because the juvenile is younger than 16, the proceedings are not public and no further information can be released."

The shooting left Cory LaVasseur, father of five, in critical condition at HCMC on Tuesday. An official at the hospital tells Fox 9 he's still hospitalized in "serious" condition on Thursday.

Police have confirmed there was some sort of argument between LaVasseur and his son leading up to the shooting, but exact motivation remains a mystery.

When officers first arrived at the family's home on Monday, they found the 15-year-old outside in the driveway unarmed. Inside, they found a shotgun believed to have been used in the shooting. Neighbors say it's a shocking turn of events for a family known for their dedication to faith and family values.
