1 dead, 2-year-old seriously hurt in semi, car crash in Stearns County

One person was killed and a 2-year-old seriously injured in a head-on crash between a car and a semi in Stearns County early Tuesday morning.

According to Minnesota State Patrol officials:

The crash happened at about 2:38 a.m. in Lake George Township near Highway 71 and 320th Street, about 11 miles south of Sauk Centre. The driver of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo was heading south on 71 and crossed over the centerline in a construction zone, colliding head-on into the northbound Peterbilt semi. 

The driver and passenger in the semi suffered non-life-threatening injuries and a 2-year-old from Elrosa, Minn. in the Monte Carlo was seriously hurt. The driver has not been identified.
