1 dead, 1 seriously hurt in crash on I-94 at Highway 280

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - A fatal crash caused all lanes of eastbound I-94 to shut down at Highway 280 on Monday around 6 p.m. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
According to Minnesota State Patrol officials:
A 2003 Chevy Trailblazer was heading west on I-94 and for "unknown reasons" crossed the median and broadsided a Volvo station wagon traveling east on I-94.
The Volvo pushed into a Metro Transit bus traveling east on I-94 causing multiple injuries. Four passengers in the Metro Transit bus were transported to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Volvo, 41-year-old Minneapolis man Kirk E. Washington was killed. State Patrol officials said it's unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Trailblazer, Nancy A. Scott, a 52-year-old woman from Indiana, was seriously injured. She was wearing a seatbelt.
