1 dead, 1 injured in Lowertown apartment shooting

One person is dead and another is injured following an alleged shooting inside an apartment in St. Paul's Lowertown neighborhood Saturday morning.

One person was killed and another was injured in an alleged shooting at an apartment in the Lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul, Minn. early Saturday morning.

St. Paul police responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment building on the 200 block of 5th Street E. just after 3:30 a.m. Officers located the 29-year-old suspect inside his apartment on the third floor of the building, along with two victims.

One of the victims, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, a man, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is in custody and being questioned by St. Paul police. Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting. 

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will release the identity and cause of death of the female victim.
