What to expect:
The Twin Cities will experience a frigid start with subzero temperatures and wind chills at 10–20 degrees below zero.
Temperatures warm slightly throughout the day, reaching the low teens in central and southern Minnesota, while northern regions will see highs in the single digits. The Twin Cities metro will reach a high of around 11 degrees, though the wind chills will stay below zero.
Despite the cold, Thursday will be a bright day with plenty of sunshine and northwest winds at 5-15 mph.
Overnight, temperatures in the metro will dip into the single digits before gradually rising as a southerly flow kicks in.

Warmer temperatures ahead
What's next:
A warming trend will begin after Thursday, with highs climbing into the 20s and 30s over the coming days.
Friday will be slightly warmer with highs in the mid-20s. Expect increasing cloud cover throughout the day, with the chance for a few scattered snowflakes in the metro and around an inch of snow in northern Minnesota.
On Saturday, temperatures will reach around 27 degrees early in the day before falling slightly through the afternoon. Sunday will be brighter and slightly warmer with highs in the upper 20s.
Temperatures are expected to return to above-average starting early next week with highs in the 30s.
