Monday’s forecast in Minnesota

What we know: It’s a fairly quiet start to the week with bright pockets of sunshine, though clouds will gradually build, leading to a mostly cloudy day. Patchy sprinkles are possible later in the morning and into the afternoon on Monday.

Much of Minnesota will have widespread highs in the mid to upper 30s, with a daytime high of 39 degrees in the Twin Cities metro.

A cold front arriving in the afternoon will bring cooler air and blustery winds at 10-20+ mph. By the evening, temperatures will dip back below freezing and continue to drop overnight into Tuesday.

Chances for snow in the Twin Cities

What's next: There are two chances for snow this week in Minnesota. On Tuesday, a band of light snow is moving across southern Minnesota, bringing measurable snowfall for some, while the Twin Cities metro will likely get a light dusting.

Another system on Thursday could deliver measurable snowfall to the Twin Cities, making for the largest snowstorm so far this season in the metro, with totals reaching a couple of inches.

The rest of the week will remain cold with highs in the 20s. The first day of winter on Saturday is looking cold with below-average temperatures in the teens.
