Adam Thielen's son helps with contract extension

Adam Thielen was at the Minnesota Vikings practice facility on Monday, along with many other players to participate in off-season condition.

The Detroit Lakes native and wide receiver also put pen to paper in front of General Manager Rick Spielman to make his contract extension official. Thielen received a four-year contract, reportedly worth about $64 million with incentives to earn about $73 million.

Most importantly, Thielen will be sporting Vikings colors through the 2024 season.

He had some help signing the new deal at TCO Performance Center from his son, Asher Thielen. The Vikings tweeted out the video, which should make any parent smile.

Vikings fans are smiling that they kept the hometown star in Minnesota for another four seasons. Thielen has done nothing but work hard to get there.

Thielen established himself as one of the top receivers in the NFL last season, starting 2018 with eight straight 100-yard receiving games. That mark tied an NFL record. He also had touchdowns in five straight games and six of seven during the stretch.

His top statistical game last season actually came in a loss at the L.A. Rams, where he had eight catches on 12 targets for 135 yards. His best game in a win came against Arizona, where he had 11 catches on 13 targets for 123 yards and a touchdown.

Thielen finished the season with 113 catches, 1,373 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He finished ninth in the league in yardage and tied for fourth with Julio Jones with the 113 catches. His nine touchdowns also tied for 10th.

Thielen will speak with media about his new contract on Tuesday.
