Two Lakeville South students dead, two injured following rollover crash

Two Lakeville South students are dead and two were injured after a rollover crash on Friday afternoon, police confirmed. The single vehicle accident occurred near the intersection of 205th St and Dodd Road around 2:30 p.m.

According to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, the two killed in the incident were identified as 17-year-old Jacob Flynn and 18-year-old John Price. Four total were in the car at the time of the rollover, all were students at Lakeville South High School.

Flynn and Price were pronounced dead on scene, the other two were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries.

"Hundreds of students from both North and South high schools and their families have gathered to grieve," Lakeville Area Schools stated Friday. "We may have two high schools, but we are one Lakeville. We will be providing support and counselors for students and staff as long as needed."

This afternoon there was a single-car, accident with two fatalities that involved four Lakeville South High School students.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dodd Blvd. and 205th Street. In addition to the two fatalities, two students were injured. The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation. Lakeville Area Public Schools will defer to the Sheriff’s Office on release of information.

Grief support has been provided at Lakeville South High School this evening until 9 PM. All evening activities have been canceled tonight. In addition, all Lakeville South High School weekend activities have been cancelled. After giving it consideration, it has been decided that events at Lakeville North on Saturday will be held, but students who do not feel able to take part will be excused from those activities.

This is an extremely difficult time for our students, our families, our staff and our community. Hundreds of students from both North and South high schools and their families have gathered to grieve. We may have two high schools, but we are one Lakeville. We will be providing support and counselors for students and staff as long as needed.

Lakeville Area Public Schools encourages parents to check in with their students regularly and seek help if needed. Families needing help over the weekend should consider contacting their faith communities.
