Train hits pickup truck near Perham, 1 dead
PERHAM, Minn. (FOX 9) - A 25-year-old man died Thursday when a train struck his pickup truck in northwestern Minnesota.
The crash occurred around 10:50 a.m. at a stop sign-controlled crossing west of Perham, according the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office. An eastbound BNSF train struck a 2014 Chevy Silverado pickup in the intersection.
The driver of the pickup was identified as Derick Brehm of Vergas. Investigators are trying to determine why he did not see or hear the oncoming train.
The crash remains under investigation.
