Residents displaced after fire at 4-plex in Minneapolis

Several residents are displaced after a fire damaged a four-plex apartment building in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis Tuesday afternoon. 

The fire started shortly before 3 p.m. at a building near the intersection of 24th Street and 10th Avenue South. One mother told FOX 9 her children were just opening presents when she started smellign smoke. 

The bulk of the fire was knocked down by 3:20 p.m. 

Paramedics were checking two residents with reported injuries and four with superficial burns, according to the fire department. 

The Red Cross reported to the scene of the fire to provide assistance for displaced residents. At this time, it is unknown how many people were affected by the fire.
