MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Nearly 100 classic Prince belongings are up for auction online by his first wife Mayte Garcia and his original manager. The auction began Thursday and will run through March 17.
The highest priced item is a combo package of his 2.2-karat diamond engagement ring and handwritten marriage proposal notes to Garcia, available for a minimum bid of $100,000. Her wedding dress, which bears the label of Prince's costumer Bonnie Flesland, of Minneapolis, is also available starting at $25,000.
Among other Prince classics being offered is a velvet sequined stage jacket for $15,000, a Gibson guitar used by Prince to record early demo tracks for $60,000, and handwritten “In Love” lyrics by Prince for $7,500.
“The legendary artist signs his name at top right as ‘prince’ and adds additional heart flourishes to the song title (a favorite touch of the young musician),” the description says of the handwritten lyrics.
