Officials identify deputies involved in Hubbard County shooting

Authorities in Hubbard County, Minnesota have identified the deputies involved in Thursday's shooting in Nevis.

On Feb. 14, officials responded to a 911 call about a shooting. When they arrived at the home, authorities found one woman dead. The suspect took off in a stolen vehicle with the other victim inside, who had also been fatally shot.

After a chase and shootout, one deputy was wounded and the suspect killed himself.

According to officials, Deputy Seth Kuhn discharged his weapon during the incident. He has been in law enforcement for nine years, including the past year with the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office. 

The deputy who was injured has been identified as Deputy Erick Rypkema, who has been in law enforcement for 13 years, including the past four with the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
