'No wake' zone on St. Croix River from Taylors Falls to Mississippi River

STILLWATER, Minn. (KMSP) - The Washington County sheriff’s office is enacting a “no wake” zone on the St. Croix River from Taylors Falls, Minn. to the Mississippi River in Prescott, Wis. due to high water levels from this week’s heavy rains.
Officials predict the St. Croix River will exceed 683 feet near Stillwater on Friday and is expected to remain above 683 feet until July 21.
In “no wake” zones, boats and other watercraft cannot go more than five miles per hour and should operate at the slowest speed possible to maintain steerage.
The “no wake” zone is intended to protect boaters from flood-related hazards and help minimize damage to shorelines, levees and islands.
