Minn. woman charged for role in sexual assault of 9-year-old relative

Cynthia Ann Mitteness, 48, of Mayer, Minn. is being charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct for her role in the sexual assault of a nine-year-old relative she was taking to Iowa. 

A 48-year-old Minnesota woman is facing felony charges for her role in the sexual assault of a nine-year-old relative who was traveling with her to Iowa.

On July 7, Carver County sheriff’s office deputies received a report that a young girl may have been sexually assaulted by a registered sex offender while traveling to Iowa with a relative, according to a statement.

An investigation into the allegations found explicit electronic messages between the suspected female relative, identified as Cynthia Mitteness of Mayer, Minn., and the registered sex offender in Iowa, identified as Michael Williams, 50, of Runnells, Iowa.

Mitteness was arrested on July 8 at her home in Mayer. She is being charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct, contributing to the need for child protection or services and child endangerment. Wlliams was arrested in Polk County, Iowa for felony human trafficking and sexual exploitation of a minor.
