Man's body found after car goes into Straight River in Steele County

Authorities pulled a man's body from the water Monday after a car went into the Straight River off of Interstate 35 in Steele County.

According to State Patrol, around 12:43 p.m. a Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound on I-35 near the Straight River Rest Area when it left the roadway and broke through the guardrail, then entered the Straight River. 

The car was completely submerged when authorities arrived. The only occupant, the driver, was found deceased. He has been identified as Ray Mudgett, 71, of New Richland.
