The Minnesota Department of Corrections is searching for a wanted fugitive who was identified while driving in north Minneapolis Wednesday and fled authorities.

Charles Robinson was identified on Wednesday near the 5000 block of Russell Avenue North, according to DOC spokesperson Sarah Fitzgerald. He was driving a 2005 black Jeep Cherokee with Minnesota license plate ADP240.

Robinson was convicted for burglary and had been on work release at a halfway house in Minneapolis. He escaped from the halfway house on July 11 and there was a warrant out for his arrest.

Minneapolis police officers and DOC officers attempted to stop Robinson, but he rammed a DOC squad car and fled in the Jeep heading south. No one was injured.

The Jeep has front end damage.

Anyone with information on Robinson's whereabouts is asked to contact the DOC fugitive unit at 651-603-0026 or law enforcement. The public is advised not to approach him.
