CHISAGO LAKES TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KMSP) - A Chisago Lakes Township husband and wife barricaded themselves in their bedroom room after an armed Lindstrom, Minn. man broke into their home claiming people were crawling through windows to get him.
The Chisago County sheriff's office reported the homeowner called 911 and reported the man had a handgun. It’s unclear if the couple knew him, but police identified him as 32-year-old Brian Alan Anderson. While deputies were en route, he fired three rounds in the kitchen.
The couple locked themselves in their bedroom when Anderson entered the laundry room. A SWAT team was activated while deputies setup a perimeter on the residence. The husband was able to escape from his bedroom with a fire escape ladder but the wife “was unable to do so,” sheriff’s officials said.
A deputy on the phone with Anderson worked to convince him to leave the house. He eventually climbed out the laundry room window and was arrested and taken to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation. He will be charged with discharging a firearm while endangering others.
The homeowners were not injured.
