Superior National Forest officials allowed members the opportunity to drive deep into the forest to see the devastating impact of the Greenwood fire near Isabella, Minnesota firsthand.
The Greenwood fire burning in northern Minnesota has now grown to more than 25,000 acres while continuing to threaten structures across the Superior National Forest.
In a statement Saturday afternoon, the Forest Service says the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness will close for seven days due to the fire. The closure includes all land, waters, portages, campsites, canoe routes, and entry points to the wilderness.
