Three weeks after a shooting that took the lives of two Burnsville Police Officers and one firefighter-paramedic, Burnsville officials have announced they will begin to "decommission" a memorial site outside of City Hall set up in their memory.

In an update early Tuesday morning, the Burnsville Police Department said the 85-year-old man was found safe in Wisconsin. 

In an interview Friday with FOX 9’s Paul Blume, the widow of fallen Burnsville Police Officer Paul Elmstrand says her husband was so much more than just a hero to their young family.

Shannon Gooden desperately wanted a gun. Years before he shot and killed three Burnsville first responders, Gooden argued for the court to lift his lifetime ban on owning firearms.

Burnsville Sgt. Adam Medlicott, who was injured in the shooting that left two officers and a firefighter-paramedic dead, spoke at a memorial service for the fallen first responders on Wednesday. 

Thousands of law enforcement officials and mourners remembered the three Burnsville first responders who were killed on Feb. 18.
