Price increases, other changes coming to downtown Minneapolis parking meters

Minneapolis residents and visitors are seeing changes at several downtown parking meters--including price increases.

On Monday, the city began updating rates, hours of enforcement and maximum parking times for downtown parking meters. According to Traffic & Parking Services, this does not apply to all parking meters. Rather, the changes in rates are reflective of the area in which meters are serving.

Many of the meters are going to a 2-hour time limit, including those east of 5th Avenue South. Officials say this is due to the development of the area including retail, Commons Park, businesses and residential buildings.

Officials say the changes will impact 2,626 parking spaces.
