Police: Student secretly recorded girls at Prior Lake schools

Police are investigating a report that a 17-year-old boy secretly recorded female students and adults at Hidden Oaks Middle School and Prior Lake High School in Prior Lake, Minnesota.

On Jan. 4, Prior Lake police officers responded to a report of a boy taking photos in the girls’ bathroom at Hidden Oaks Middle School.

An investigation revealed a 17-year-old student in the Prior Lake-Savage School District had been taking videos of girls and women in areas “where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy” at the middle school and Prior Lake High School.

Victims have been contacted and will be given access to counseling, according to police.

“I am deeply concerned for the victims in this case and want their families to know that we will do everything we can to ensure resources and support are made available and the suspect is held accountable for his actions,” Prior Lake Interim Police Chief Booker Hodges said in a statement.

The school district is cooperating with the investigation. Once the investigation is complete, it will be submitted to the Scott County Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
