New Prague post office to reopen after closing for safety concerns

The New Prague post office will reopen on Friday after it was closed last week due to safety concerns with the building, according to the U. S. Postal Service.

Crews had been replacing the flooring at the building when a safety issue arose. Officials suspended operations at the New Prague location on Saturday in order to complete a "thorough environmental cleaning." Customers had to go to the Belle Plaine post office for service.

"We apologize for the disruption caused by this issue and look forward to serving our customers again," said USPS spokeswoman Kristy Anderson in a press release.

The New Prague location will resume its normal hours starting Friday.
