FAA airspace closures: How each airline is responding

As the Federal Aviation Administration forces airlines to cut 10% of their flights, companies are reassuring customers that they will attempt to minimize disruptions. 

Reductions are being made at 40 of the busiest airports across the country. 

The cuts will take effect on Friday and travelers are encouraged to check with their airlines to see if their flight has been cut.

Here is what airline companies are saying: 

Delta Air Lines

• Expects to operate "vast majority of flights as scheduled," and this includes international flights.

United Airlines

• International flights and hub-to-hub flights will not be impacted by the reduction.
• Customers are eligible for a refund if their flights are directly impacted by these reductions, as well as rebooking options.

American Airlines

• The company expects that a "vast majority" of travel will be unaffected, and this includes international flights.
• During the impacted travel periods, American is offering customers whose flights were canceled or if they choose to change their flight are subject to a refund without penalty.

Frontier Airlines

• Frontier said it will actively alert customers whose flights are impacted by the FAA reductions.
• Customers whose flights are canceled or delayed by more than three hours (domestic) or six hours (international) are eligible to rebook or can request a refund.

Sun Country Airlines

• Sun Country anticipates "most" of their flights will operate as planned.
• Any customers that may be impacted by the reductions will be directly contacted by the airline’s reservation teams.
• International flights will not be impacted.

Breeze

• The company said "early indications suggest minimal impact" to their planned flights.
• Customers will have the option to cancel their flights for a full refund or switch to another Breeze flight within 14 days at no extra cost. 
• If customers' flights are impacted, they will be notified.

Allegiant Air

• Scheduled flights will operate as normal.
• Customers do not need to take any action at this time.
• If customers' flights are impacted by these reductions, someone from the company will reach out.

Alaska Airlines

• Alaska Air Group includes Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Horizon Air and McGee Air Services.
