Being a teacher these days can be both challenging and rewarding. It’s the rewarding part we focus on with our FOX 9 Top Teacher Awards.

All month long, we are recognizing the exceptional efforts of our teachers across Minnesota.

Dr. Tracy Ivy has been teaching American Sign Language at Minnetonka High School for 15 years, where it is offered as a world language. The program includes about 130 hearing students eager to learn sign language.

A beloved St. Paul elementary school teacher was honored Thursday with FOX 9’s Top Teacher Award.

FOX 9 recognized a Waconia educator as a "Top Teacher" on Wednesday.

David Gunderman, a math teacher at Academic Arts High School in West St. Paul, was recognized for his exceptional contributions to the school, which included starting a fishing club to allow students to learn outside the traditional classroom environment.

Mrs. Sharon Wicks, a paraeducator at Fridley Middle School, received FOX 9’s Top Teacher Award.

Happy tears were flowing in Somerset, Wisconsin Friday afternoon as FOX 9 staff presented our second Top Teacher award of the year.
