The Gophers are headed to Phoenix to face New Mexico in the Rate Bowl on December 26th. Minnesota enters the matchup with the longest active bowl win streak in the nation at eight straight victories as the team looks to add a ninth at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Fiesta Sports Foundation Executive Director Erik Moses says fans can look forward to warm weather, festive events and plenty of activities throughout Phoenix. With temperatures in the 70s, a unique baseball park setting and a chance to extend their postseason success, the Gophers are set for a high-energy holiday matchup in the Valley of the Sun.

Rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy finished 16 of 23 for 163 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions while Justin Jefferson was held to two catches for 11 yards on four targets. The defense set the tone all afternoon and veteran safety Harrison Smith came away with his first interception of the season. Despite sitting at long playoff odds of 250 to 1 the Vikings now look to build on the momentum as they prepare for Sunday night’s matchup against the Cowboys.
