Unattended bag tests positive for explosives at MSP Airport baggage claim

An unattended bag at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport tested positive for explosives early Thursday morning, shutting down the Terminal 1 baggage claim.

An airport spokesperson confirmed the unattended bag was left at Carousel 12. The Bloomington police bomb squad was called in to haul the bag away. The owner of the bag had at some point filed a claim with the airline, but it's unclear when and why that happened and which airline it was.

The baggage claim roadway was closed and redirected to the upper road way near ticketing, but the scene was cleared before 7 a.m.

Airport employees have been instructed to be extra aware of misplaced luggage over the past few weeks.
