Minnesotans welcome Afghan refugees at New Year's Eve party
The Azizi family and local nonprofit Hope for Afghanistan put together a New Year's Eve party, gathering members of the Afghan community in Minnesota and welcoming recently resettled Afghan refugees. More than 100 people attended the event at Crescent Moon Banquet Hall in Minneapolis Friday night, that's just a small fraction of the more than 500 Afghans already in Minnesota. At least 1,000 more Afghan refugees are expected to settle in the state in the coming months.
