Claiming he was an “hour away” from another round of strikes on Iran, President Trump said on Tuesday that allies convinced him otherwise as negotiations continue to end a conflict that approaches its third month. Meanwhile, estimates show that Americans have spent an additional $33 billion on gas since fighting began.

President Donald Trump discussed escalating tensions with Iran, revealing that he was "an hour away" from launching a military strike. Trump stated that U.S. ships were loaded to the brim and ready to go before Gulf nations asked for a pause to allow for further negotiations.

Meanwhile, a separate debate is intensifying over Department of Homeland Security funding, where Republicans are close to advancing funding, but Democrats are holding out for broader reforms.

Vice President JD Vance and Dr. Mehmet Oz outlined on Wednesday efforts the federal government is making to penalize state’s that aren’t effectively rooting out suspected fraud within the Medicaid system, saying one will be to pause $1.3 billion in payments to California.

Speaking on topics of the government investigating fraud in the Medicaid system, Vice President JD Vance defended President Trump’s comments that Americans’ finances, and rising costs surrounding them, were “not a concern” compared to Iran’s nuclear capabilities, while also detailing the efforts that Medicaid cuts could have on the federal budget deficit.

Military leaders, including Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, are defending the Pentagon's $1.5 trillion budget request before Congress on Tuesday. Their testimony comes as inflation and gas prices continue to rise while the Iran war remains unresolved. FOX's Rebekah Castor has the latest.
