A Sherlock Holmes Radio Play coming to the Pavek Museum
Before there were cell phones, computers, and even televisions, there was radio and this weekend, a group of Sherlock Holmes' enthusiasts are putting on a nostalgic show that'll simulate a 1940's style radio broadcast. The Red-Throated League will perform the Sherlock Holmes tale “The Adventure of the Crooked Man.” It'll feature live sound effects. The show will take place at the Pavek Museum in St. Louis Park on Saturday, May 16th.

328 Grill moves to Hastings
A burger joint that went viral for its grilled-cheese style burgers has made a big move. The 328 Grill is no longer tucked into the American Legion in St. Paul Park, they've opened their own spot in Hastings with a sizeable patio. It's open seven days a week and is located at 350 33rd St. West.

There's a new tool designed to help high school students uncover who they are, what they love and how that connects to different careers. The interactive experience is expected to serve 12,000 students annually. It is open now at Junior Achievement North in St. Paul, located at 1745 University Ave W.

Local romance authors Evi James and Alice Daniels will be at Yellowbird Coffee Bar NE on Friday, May 8th to meet the readers, sign books and bedazzle book covers. DabbleKit will be bringing all the supplies for bedazzling. The event is 18+ and you do need to reserve a spot to attend. There will be more bedazzling events throughout the summer.

Preserving Minnesota's oldest standing building
Work is underway to preserve the oldest standing building in Minnesota. The Round Tower was constructed in 1820 as a defensive point for Fort St. Anthony, which was later renamed Fort Snelling. The structure was deteriorating from water damage but is now covered in scaffolding as it's repaired stone by stone.

Way Cool Cooking School opens 2nd location
Way Cool Cooking School opened in 2004 in Eden Prairie. The team has had plans to expand to the east side of the metro for several years and finally found a spot on Grand Avenue near Fairview in St. Paul. Basketball training organization, Hoop Habits, has opened a new facility in Minnetonka. Founder Anthony Tucker wants the 41,000 square foot gym to be a destination for elite athletes and those hoping to learn the sport. They'll also offer more resources including sports performance services, nutrition coaching, college preparation, recruiting and NIL guidance and financial literacy education. The original location opened in Edina in 2024.

Hundreds of refurbished bikes ready for sale in Apple Valley
For the last year the volunteer wrench crew has been hard at work refurbishing bikes for a sale this weekend. It's the 18th annual Rick's Bike Sale. It takes place at Dicks Valley Service located at 5905 Upper 147th St. West in Apple Valley on Saturday May 2nd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They expect to sell more than 550 bikes in four hours, and the money raised will all go to two local non-profits, Kids 'n Kinship and DARTS. The sale has raised more than $625,000 for charity over the past 17 years.

The cutest springtime tradition is back at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley. Farm Babies is underway at the Wells Fargo Family Farm. It runs through May 17th. This years' event will feature baby goats, sheep, pigs, llamas and chicks along with two new additions, mini cows and donkeys.

Cars & Caves returns for the season this weekend. The last Saturday of the month, April through September, the Chanhassen AutoPlex opens to the public. There will be hundreds of collector, classic and exotic cars and motorcycles on display. the show runs from 9 a.m. to noon and is free to attend. They will be accepting donations for the non-profit charity partner, Wishes & More during the event.

Most of the trees Hennepin county plants come from a gravel-bed nursery. It's located at the Hennepin County Adult Corrections Facility in Plymouth. It gives the county access to hardy, diverse and cost-effective trees for use on county projects and properties.

Art inspires floral creations at Minneapolis Institute of Art
More than 160 floral artists have created designs inspired by pieces from the Minneapolis Institute of Art's collection. They will be on display for 'Art in Bloom' from April 23rd through the 26th. The show is free and open to the public though they are asking for donations to sustain the mission of ensuring access to all including educational programming.
