Warm weather spoils winter fun in MN

While some were enjoying the unusual January warmth, some Minnesotans were exactly thrilled with the record temps.

Reversing trends

The backstory:

The warm-up this week came as Minnesota emerged from the freezer last week.

Just nine days ago, Minnesotans were dealing with extreme cold and windchill temps far below zero. The Twin Cities saw 66 straight hours with air temps below zero, the lowest temp being 19 degrees below zero.

What's next:

The warm-up will continue through the weekend before temps again reverse course, going from around 10 to 15 degrees above average on Sunday to five to ten degrees below average for the start of the week on Monday.
