St. Paul crash leaves 1 dead after Jeep catches on fire

ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - One person is dead after a Jeep caught on fire following a crash in St. Paul.

The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) said troopers responded to a crashed Jeep that caught on fire in the area of westbound Interstate 94 (I-94) near Mounds Boulevard around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday.
The male driver, who was reportedly the only person in the Jeep, died after the crash.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased driver.
An MSP crash report states the Jeep Grand Cherokee was being driven west on I-94 when it left the roadway and slid to the left while exiting to Mounds Boulevard and struck the overhead sign post.
Footage of the crash aftermath showed the charred remains of the Jeep on the side of the highway.
