Brooklyn Park shooting over suspected weed sale leaves teen seriously injured

A 17-year-old boy in Brooklyn Park was left critically injured after being shot during a suspected marijuana sale on Sunday evening.

What we know:

The Brooklyn Park Police Department said at 6:15 p.m. officers responded to a reported shooting on the 6500 block of 84th Court North, and found a teenager who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. 

First responders transported the teenager to a local hospital, where police say he remains in critical condition.

What led to the shooting?

The investigation revealed that the victim and the suspects had arranged a marijuana sale through Snapchat. During the transaction, police said "several suspects" shot the teenager and fled the scene on foot. 

Law enforcement conducted an extensive search for the suspects and used several K9 units, drone teams and the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter, but they were unable to locate the suspects, according to the press release. 

What we don't know:

Police did not release descriptions of the suspects or say how many people may have been involved.
