'Badly decomposed' human remains identified in St. Louis County

Authorities have identified human remains found earlier this week in the Little Fork River in St. Louis County, according to a press release.

On Saturday around 1:20 p.m., St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report that human remains had been found in the Little Fork River about a half mile west of Cook, MN. The remains were "badly decomposed."

Midwest Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy on Monday and identified the remains as 45-year-old Jeremy Allen Morrell of Cook, MN. 

Morrell was reported as missing and was last seen walking in Cook on March 29.

The case is still under investigation.

The cause of death will be determined from the completed autopsy results.
