Washington's beloved tapir moves to Minnesota Zoo
Ume the Malayan tapir was born at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma, Washington. She quickly became a social media star. Her move to the Minnesota Zoo is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan. Ume will be rotating on habitat with Bertie, the Zoo's elder female Malayan tapir.
