Trump says ‘tariffs have made us rich’

Detailing a wide range of fiscal policies in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday, President Donald Trump says that “tariffs are his favorite word” after insisting that the increased taxes on imported goods have made Americans “rich,” despite a February 2026 Supreme Court ruling mandating that the fees imposed must be refunded to manufacturers – the result of which will cost U.S. taxpayers an estimated $160 billion to $175 billion.
