Hurricane Milton to hit Florida as powerful storm
Hurricane Milton rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a category 5 hurricane within 24 hours and is one of the only hurricanes on record to do so. It is the second strongest hurricane recorded in the Gulf of Mexico and the fifth strongest in the Atlantic. As of Tuesday morning, the category 4 hurricane has sustained winds of over 150 mph, and it's expected to make landfall in Florida Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Millions of people are under evacuation orders, with the Tampa airport closing Tuesday and the Orlando airport closing Wednesday.
