Meet the woman who designed Barbie?s iconic outfits
It's an explosion of pink with the opening of the Barbie Movie this weekend, but the doll wouldn't be anything without her fashion sense, and that is in part thanks to Carol Spencer. The 90 year old started designing the Barbie clothes for Mattel in the 60?s and created many of the famous looks we know today. Spencer graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis in 1950 and attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design before moving out to Los Angeles to work for Mattel. Alix Kendall caught up with her to learn more about the experience designing outfits for the famous doll.
