Driver seriously hurt after being pinned under garbage truck on Highway 41

Authorities are on the scene of a serious crash in the south Twin Cities metro near the Renaissance Festival site that has Highway 41 shutdown.

Authorities say a driver suffered serious and potentially life-threatening injuries after a getting pinned under a garbage truck during a multi-vehicle crash in the south Twin Cities metro Wednesday afternoon.

What we know:

The State Patrol says it responded just before 2:30 p.m. to a multi-vehicle crash in the area of Highway 41 and Dem Con Road in Jackson Township. When authorities arrived, a total of five vehicles were involved in a rear-end style crash.

Authorities say it resulted in one of the vehicles getting stuck under a garbage truck. The State Patrol says one driver suffered severe, life-threatening injuries.

Traffic management cameras showed multiple law enforcement vehicles, ambulances and fire trucks at the scene. Highway 41 was closed in both directions.
