Minneapolis shooting leaves man dead in Hawthorne neighborhood

Minneapolis police are investigating a shooting in the city's Hawthorne neighborhood that left a man dead.

What we know:

Officers say they responded to a reported shooting near the intersection of 31st Avenue North and 4th Avenue just after 1:18 a.m. on Thursday. 

A 911 caller said they heard a single gunshot followed by someone calling for help.  

Police then found a man in the street suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was then taken to the hospital, where he died.

Law enforcement officials are still investigating the shooting and no arrests have been announced. 

What we don't know:

Authorities have not released information on any possible suspects.

The details of what may have led to the shooting are still being investigated, police say.
