Woman shot and killed inside Maplewood apartment
A 55-year-old woman was shot and killed inside an apartment building in Maplewood. The suspect is in custody. FOX 9's Karen Scullin has more.
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (FOX 9) - A woman fatally shot by a man inside an apartment building in Maplewood lead to a SWAT response Wednesday, authorities say.

What we know:
According to Maplewood police, around 10:45 a.m., authorities responded to the 2500 Ivy Avenue Easy on reports of gunshots and a person on the ground.
At the scene, a 55-year-old woman was found shot. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died, police said.
Law enforcement says that a 56-year-old man, the suspect, was possibly inside the victim's apartment armed. The neighboring apartment units were evacuated, and a shelter-in-place order was issued.
Eventually, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was able to enter the apartment, where they found the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The suspect was then taken to the hospital.
Maplewood police say they are investigating this shooting as a homicide.
