LA CROSSE, Wis. (FOX 9) - A Wisconsin man is in jail after he allegedly fired shots during a traffic altercation last week, police say.

What we know:
La Crosse police responded to South Fifth Avenue and Division Street shortly before 5:45 p.m. for the report of a shooting on Thursday.
At the scene, police say they learned an argument between two drivers had escalated and led to one driver firing shots. No one was hurt, but police say the driver who allegedly fired shots fled the scene.

Police say using surveillance video, witness video, and witness statements, they were able to track down the driver involved.

That driver is now being held in La Crosse County Jail on suspicion of second-degree recklessly endangering safety. As per policy, FOX 9 is not identifying him until he has been formally charged.

"The combination of reporting by the victim, diligent investigative work, and the Genetec camera system, assisted officers in locating the vehicle and identifying the suspect" said La Crosse Police Chief Shawn Kudron.
