What we know:
Interstate 35 is closed from just south of Owatonna to Ames, Iowa due to numerous crashes caused by the winter storm.
- Minnesota: I-35 is closed from Highway 14 (just south of Owatonna) to the Iowa border.
- Iowa: I-35 is closed from the Minnesota border to Highway 30 in Ames, Iowa.
It's unclear when the interstate will reopen. The closure is expected to last at least until early Monday morning.

No-travel advisories have been issued for parts of southwest and southeast Minnesota telling drivers to avoid state highways amid the winter storm.
Gov. Walz has even directed the National Guard to respond to southern Minnesota to help the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office help respond to assist stranded motorists.
