A Florida man who is accused of accessing women’s personal information, including private chats and banking details, and posting about them on TikTok is back behind bars and faces a new charge.
Big picture view:
Court records show Mark Asea, 36, was taken into custody Wednesday at his Port St. Lucie home on a felony count of offense against a computer user. The allegation traces back to an investigation launched earlier this year that resulted in three counts against him that were later dropped.
The backstory:
In April, Asea was booked into the St. Lucie County jail on two counts of fraud and abuse via computer access and a single count of stalking following an investigation by the Port St. Lucie Police Department. All three counts were dropped in early May, and the case was closed later that month. According to court records, it was reopened four months later, on September 24, with the new allegation added that day.
The original affidavit against Asea explained how he may have obtained some of the information he allegedly accessed and gave an account of the details of posts he made to his account on TikTok. The affidavit noted that, at the time of the initial investigation, Asea described himself in his bio as a "Narcissistic abuse survivor. Former satanist. Empath. Cybersecurity engineer. Woodsman."

The TikTok videos
In one of the videos, Asea is quoted as referring to one of the victim’s passwords, as well as an IMEI number and MAC address, before going on to discuss the last ten online purchases that she made. She noted that she does not get emailed receipts of online purchases, which indicated to her that he was able to access her banking information.
The victim also told investigators that she had shared the password in a closed group chat on TikTok that she did not know Asea was in, and she added that she believed he made a fake account for the purpose of joining that group.
In the same video, Asea allegedly claimed that he was able to track her with the GPS on her phone and knew the license plate number for the vehicle she was driving.
Another woman told the investigating officer that she had allowed Asea to have remote access to her computer to help her and accused him of implanting a virus while she was in the bathroom that gave him access to her computer. She alleged that Asea posted onto TikTok a picture that only existed on her phone as a private Telegram message.
The affidavit also indicated that Asea had mentioned one of the women in over 100 TikTok videos, including up to six times in a single day.
What's next:
As of Sunday night, Asea remained in the St. Lucie County jail, where he is being held on $35,000 bond. He is due to return to court on November 19 for his arraignment.
