Rosemount Ethiopian church damaged in fire
Authorities responded to a fire just before 11 a.m. Monday at MN Debre Bisrat St Gabriel and Arsema Ethiopian Orthodox Church, on the 3200 block of 144th Street West. It was formerly known as Lighthouse Church.
ROSEMOUNT, Minn. (FOX 9) - The Rosemount Police Department says road closures remain in effect near an Ethiopian church while authorities investigate a Monday morning fire that caused extensive damage to the building.

Authorities are on the scene of a structure fire at a multicultural community center and Ethiopian church in Rosemount Monday. Sky FOX 9 shows the roof of the building suffered extensive damage, and the structure is likely a total loss.

What we know:
Rosemount police say a fire broke out at the Minnesota Debre Bisrat St. Gabriel and St. Arsema Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, located at 3285 144th St. W., at about 10:46 a.m. Monday.
Police say the building, which was formerly Lighthouse Church, was believed to be unoccupied at the time. Sky FOX 9 flew over the scene and captured extensive damage to the roof, and much of the building inside appears to be a total loss. There have been no reports of any injuries connected to the fire.

Rosemount police say barricades are in place from 145th Street W. to Upper 143rd Street W., between Canada and Cantata Avenue W. Authorities say they anticipate the road closures will be prolonged as they investigate the fire. Neighborhood residents can access their homes off Chili Avenue, and should be ready to show proof of residency to law enforcement.
Multiple agencies responded to the blaze, including fire departments from Rosemount, Apple Valley, Farmington, Lakeville, the State Fire Marshal and the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office. City officials are also thanking the local Culver’s for providing food, and neighbors and the church community for providing water to public safety officials on the scene.
