LINO LAKES, Minn. (FOX 9) - A domestic assault call in Lino Lakes led to a standoff and two schools being put on lockdown Thursday.
Suspect dead in Lino Lakes standoff
What we know:
According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the 7100 block of Owl Lane Northeast on reports of a disconnected call and texts to 911 about a domestic assault.
At the scene, officers contacted the person at the home and a gunshot was heard inside, law enforcement said. Officers were then able to remove the person from the home unharmed.
No other victims were reported to be inside the home. Officers found the suspect dead from a gunshot wound inside the home, authorities said.
The incident led to Centennial Middle School and Blue Heron Elementary School being placed on a soft lockdown.
Authorities say they are not looking for any additional suspects.
What we don't know:
The suspect has not been identified, and it is not clear what led up to the shooting.
The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.
