Rare textiles from Japan and Siberia showcased at Mia
Cotton, cashmere and polyester are fabrics that come to mind with modern clothing, but before these materials were easily available, people had to innovate. Their resourcefulness is on display in a new exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art called ?Dressed by Nature: Textiles of Japan.? The show focuses on clothing made between the years 1750 and 1930 using textiles like fish skin, nettle and banana plants. The show is in the Target Gallery and runs through September 11, 2022.
