MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - A high school student in Wisconsin is dead after he was injured while playing a football game.

The superintendent for Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan School District said the student died from injuries sustained in a football game that was held Thursday night.
The student, Adam Massman, was a senior at Lincoln High School in Alma Center.
FOX 9 confirmed the following message was sent to staff and families following the incident:
"Lincoln Families,
"I am messaging to share news of the sudden passing of Lincoln senior student Adam Massman. Adam was injured during Thursday night’s football game. He received medical support from EMT who were onsite at the game, before being transported to the hospital. We received news this afternoon that Adam passed away from the injury.
"Adam was active in our Lincoln community, participating in multiple sports, clubs, and activities making friends everywhere he went. The Lincoln Jr/Sr High School building is open to students, parents, and friends today, and we will have counselors available to meet with students. We will also have counseling support available to students on Monday starting at 12:00, and throughout the day on Tuesday as students return to school.
"This loss touches our Lincoln family in many ways. Adam’s family has deep connections throughout our schools, including his mother, Mrs. Brianne Massman, our elementary school counselor; a sibling at the Jr High; his uncle and aunt, Mr. Jake Prindle and Mrs. Nicki Prindle, who are teachers at Lincoln Elementary; his uncle Mr. Sam Prindle, who serves on the Lincoln School Board; along with other relatives on staff and friends and family throughout the student body.
"We ask that you keep Adam’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers."
